Ford/DeWalt Tool Link (ThingMagic)

ThingMagic was contracted by the Ford Motor Company to provide adapt UHF RFID for tool and item tracking into their Ford Works in-dash computing solution.

Toollink was a systems integration project using ThingMagic's embedded M5e RFID reader solution.

  • development of a ruggedized housing for the reader module
  • development of power conditioning electronics
  • development of a full "kit" for installation of the system
  • selection of appropriate UHF RFID antennas for the application
  • software for the user interface on the in-dash computer

Tool Link was ultimately co-branded by Ford and DeWalt and offered as an option in the 2009 F150 trucks.
